Barbara McMillen
studied music, psychology and drama at NTSU and graduated from TWU with a BS degree in Music Therapy. She has worked in clinical settings with the emotionally disturbed, mentally retarded,autistic, and learning disabled. After giving four years of service to county and state agencies as a Music Therapist helping emotionally disturbed teens relate to reality through structured music activities, and running a clinical training program for college students, she turned to entertaining as a full time profession.
bands including, Lickskillet, Boyd Williams & Back Alley, Killer & the Showcats, Lynn Groom Band, Mark Benno,& Bluebird, and currently Texas Fantasy, Fantasy, and Rich$Famous who have played opening acts for such stars as Willie Nelson, David Allen Coe, Asleep at the Wheel, Rusty Weir, Albert Collins, Jerry Jeff Walker, Rex Allen Jr., Reba McIntire, and Red Stegal at major club venues and large outdoor festivals. Barbe has appeared on several local television programs including, Dallas Underground Live, Weekday, Songwriter News Live, Performance, and Dallas Music Video. She has been producer and host of her own show, Texas Music Magazine, which featured local talent and special guest celebrities. Barbe entertained in piano bars from Texas to Florida . She has entertained at restaurants including the famous north Dallas restaurants, Madisons ( from the TV show Dallas) and the Baked Potato. Before the Palladium of Dallas closed, She entertained there for a private record party for local recording artists and celebrities.Barbe has been lead singer for local Texas

Barbe has recorded five albums which have been released by a local label, WHIT Records: Burn the Night, an original pop EP including four songs written by Barbe; Dallas Dance, an instructional LP of Texas folk dances; Bit O ' Country, a country LP; BARBE', a rock/pop LP produced by grammy-award winner Richard Theisen; and Surrogate Vapors, a dance/rap LP.
Founder of the Dallas Songwriters Association, a 280 member organization of metroplex songwriters, Barbe is currently editor of Songwriter Notes and a published songwriter. She has served on the executive board of the Texas Music Association and is an active member of the music community. She has won a Mercom Gold Award and a US Film & Video Silver Screen Award for original music composition.
Barbe has worked as a Music Therapist with children and adults for the past 25 years , and currently specializes in memory loss.

Barbara has performed for audiences around the world. Locally known as the Hat Lady among the retirement community, she offers the best in entertainment as a vocalist who accompanies herself on piano.Specializing in concerts and music therapy for mature retired audiences, she per-forms the great classic jazz, pop and country songs, and show tunes from the first half of the 20th Century. Barbara also has prepared special occasion programs for Christ-mas, St. Patricks Day, Mother's Day and patriotic events.

Combining her skills as an actress (recently a cast member in the musical, It’s A Wonderful Life, at the Majestic Theater in Dallas), singer, and Registered Music Therapist, Barbara programs are uniquely interactive. She is available for day concerts, sing along, or music therapy sessions.

Barbara McMillen, known to some as the HAT LADY, Sings great classic songs and show tunes from the first half of the 20th century and accompanies herself on piano. Her program is interactive and includes sing along and music trivia mostly for, but not limited to geriatric patients. She is currently preparing programs for children that meet TEKS educational requirements.
